France-based distribution company The Coven is set to launch worldwide distribution for the highly anticipated third installment, Terrifier 3, following the incredible success of Terrifier 2 at the box office.

Writer-director Damien Leone and producer Phil Falcone will return to oversee the continuation of the franchise, ensuring the creative vision remains intact.

While the plot of Terrifier 3 is being kept under wraps, fans can expect the return of David Howard Thornton, who brilliantly portrays the chilling Art The Clown, as well as Lauren LaVera, known for her role as Sienna. The Coven will serve as executive producer, and the project has already garnered significant interest from potential buyers. Filming is scheduled to commence in November or December of this year, with a targeted release date in late 2024. The third installment is expected to receive a substantial budget in the low- to mid-seven figure range, a notable increase compared to its predecessor.

Terrifier 2, which was produced with a budget of around $250,000, achieved remarkable success at the global box office, grossing over $15 million, with more than $10 million coming from the United States under Cinedigm. The film premiered at renowned festivals like Frightfest and FantasticFest last year and garnered praise for its graphic violence and dedication to practical effects reminiscent of classic horror. It boasts an impressive 85 percent critical score and an 80 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The sequel follows the sinister exploits of Art the Clown, who, after being resurrected by a malevolent force, returns to the peaceful town of Miles County on Halloween night to target a teenage girl and her younger brother.

Priscilla Smith, representing The Coven, expressed excitement about the forthcoming installment, stating, “This time around, we’re providing a much bigger budget to give the filmmakers greater creative freedom and allow them to unleash their wild side. And, joking aside, we’re aiming for that Oscar this year.”

Leone added, “Terrifier 3 will push the boundaries of the horror genre even further, delivering the uncompromising and no-holds-barred experience that fans of the franchise have come to expect and celebrate. If you thought Art the Clown’s reign of terror in the second film was extreme, you haven’t seen anything yet.”
