The Theater industry is taking a big hit from the Corna Virus. People are staying home on their own or they are being ordered by the government to self-quarantine. Most new movies are now being released as Rentals to be streamed on digital platforms. Could this be the new norm? Can movie theaters survive this crisis? The answer is in our humble opinion is YES!
The new NORM could be drive-in theaters that were so popular in the 5o’s through the 70’s. But there very few drive-in theaters actually running at the moment. There is talk of new drive-in theaters being built soon but will this actually take off again? Maybe.
They have started streaming NEW Releases on digital platforms but they are VERY expensive to rent. With prices at $20 and money becoming very hard to come by, we see this as something that won’t last unless they drop the price.
Yes, no one is going to the theaters right now. But, with everyone being stuck in their homes and will eventually get sick of being quarantined. Once the all-clear is announced we feel people will be flocking to the theatres, restaurants and theme parks once again. Maybe in even greater numbers than before.
Is the theater industry DEAD? If they don’t get a bailout, yes. But if they can survive this storm they may see a new era of prosperity and we may see new ways to see movies in the theaters.
