HALLOWEEN is my favorite time of the year and my favorite holiday. But are you aware the HALLOWEEN season Officially kicks off on September 1? Well, to be honest if you’re a horror movie FREAK like me everyday is Halloween. But on September 1st things really start to kick into gear!

People ask me all the time, why are you so obsessed with Halloween? For me Halloween marks the beginning of the Holiday season, the end of summer, cooler nights, and the beautiful fall colors that fill all the trees. I guess being a horror fan most my life I’m attracted to the dark side of things. Nothing evil or harmful but to the mystery that surrounds the dark. Like opening a box. You never know what’s inside it could be good or could be bad.

I guess what really attracts me to the holiday is the customs and it’s history. Plus the fact that you can dress up in makeup or wear a mask to become someone or something else. To me, there’s also something very primal about the holiday as I imagine people gathering around a campfire to tell spooky stories during a full moon. That feeling that you get when you’re scared or frighten really makes you feel alive. At least for me.

My favorite things to do during the holiday is to decorate my home in spooky decor, carve Jack O Lanterns, watch scary movies, cook pumpkin seeds, and to host a great Halloween Party where everyone dresses in costume. It’s all very fun and thrilling to me like riding a rollercoaster or walking through a haunted house.

The question that get asked most is why do you like to watch horror movies? Well, it’s quit simple really. With horror movies you can experience fear without being in actual danger. Like riding a rollercoaster. It’s thrilling, exciting, and makes you feel alive. FEAR is a very powerful emotion and if one can overcome FEAR you can do anything in life. Yes, you heard that right. If you can overcome or confront your fears it makes you a stronger person. So watching horror movies can help you start to confront your fears which I think is very important.

This is why Horror Movies and Halloween get along together. They’re both thrilling, exciting, fun and sometimes can be scary. But in a safe environment.

Have a safe and fun HALLOWEEN everyone!
